THE MICROBIAL COMMUNITY COMPOSITION OF AN ANAEROBIC REACTOR IN A SUGAR INDUSTRY WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT-FROM CLASSICAL TO NEW APPROACHES

In this study, the microbial characteristics of anaerobic reactor a sugar industry wastewater treatment plant were analyzed using cloning, FISH (Fluoresan in situ hybridization) and metagenomic analysis. Samples obtained from seven different ports on 148th day operation. The temperature was maintained at mesophilic conditions. system’s pH range operated 6.8. cloning results showed that most bacterial clones belonged to uncultured members Bacteria domain. Many archaeal related Archaea Methanosarcina. method applied determine composition samples, which species had nearly equal rates. Rod-shaped cells, long bacilli, coccus chains detected samples. After analysis, all domain ranged between 60-36% 58-31%. At phylum level, Euryarchaeota dominant phylum. Proteobacteria (14.8-21.97%) Actinobacteria (5.53-15.94%) phyla high rate. Furthermore, Spirochaeotes (0.63-4.82%) Bacteroidetes (1.72-2.38%) This study revealed both populations high-concentration organic wastewater. These will help development more efficient systems.
